New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged all factions that emerged during the party’s recent internal elections to dissolve and unite under a single NPP camp as preparations begin for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking after the swearing-in of the party’s newly elected national executives on October 4, Dr Bawumia said the internal contests were now over and members must shift their attention to rebuilding the party and preparing to regain power.
“Elections are over. All the camps will dissolve, and let us have one NPP camp and go and win 2028,” he said.
He stressed that unity would be central to the NPP’s efforts to return to government, urging members and supporters to set aside their differences and work towards a common objective.
“Let us all understand that winning 2028 is about unity. Unity in this party will give us victory. Let us come together to work,” Dr Bawumia said.
The NPP Flagbearer also encouraged candidates who lost in the national executive elections not to consider themselves defeated, emphasising that the party needed their experience and participation in its campaign for 2028.
“You did not lose. The NPP won,” he said, adding that all contestants would have a role to play in the party’s efforts to win the next election.
According to Dr Bawumia, the newly elected national executives have received a clear mandate from delegates to lead the party’s efforts to return to power, leaving no room for delays.
“There is no time to waste. Day one, this week, by the grace of God, we should all meet and begin the process of getting to the 2028 election,” he said.
He further cautioned that the NPP would need to work harder than it had in previous elections if it was to achieve its objective of winning the 2028 polls.
“We must work harder. And let us all start this week by meeting and putting our strategies together to capture power in 2028,” Dr Bawumia added.
