Finance Minister Approves January-September Rent Allowances for Security Personnel

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has approved the payment of three quarters of rent allowances owed to personnel of Ghana’s security services, covering the period from January to September 2026.

The development was announced by the Press Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, Julius Kwame Anthony, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Mr Anthony confirmed that the Finance Minister had given approval for the release of the outstanding rent allowances for the first nine months of the year.

“I can confirm that the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has approved the payment of three quarters of rent allowances, covering January to September, to personnel of the security services,” he said.

According to Mr Anthony, all necessary validation procedures have been completed by the various security agencies in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior.

He explained that the completion of the validation process has paved the way for the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to proceed with the payments.

The approval is expected to facilitate the settlement of outstanding rent allowances owed to security personnel for the first three quarters of 2026
