Roads Ministry Pledges Annual Support After GH¢100,000 Donation to Ga Mantse Foundation

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has donated GH¢100,000 to the Ga Mantse Foundation to support its programmes in education, skills development and assistance for vulnerable children.

The contribution was announced by the Ministry’s Chief Director, Ing. Samuel Kwasi Akuaku, during a courtesy visit by the Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, and a delegation from the Ministry to the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.

The donation follows an appeal from the Ga Mantse for increased institutional support for the Foundation, which undertakes initiatives including scholarships, skills training and educational support, with particular attention to vulnerable children and girls.

Ing. Akuaku said the contribution would help strengthen the Foundation’s interventions in education and youth development.

He further revealed that the Ministry, in consultation with the Roads and Highways Minister, intends to introduce a voluntary annual contribution involving the Ministry and its agencies to provide sustained support for the Foundation.

“This is not a pledge. We are going to give the Foundation GH¢100,000,” Ing. Akuaku said.

He added that the Ministry would consult with the sector minister on establishing a system through which the Ministry and its agencies could make voluntary contributions to the Foundation each year.

“I also want to indicate that to help the Foundation grow, we will take it up, in consultation with the Honourable Minister, to do a voluntary contribution from all agencies and the Ministry every year and submit accordingly to the Foundation,” he stated.

The proposed annual support is expected to provide the Foundation with additional resources to expand its programmes and interventions targeting education, skills development and youth empowerment.
