The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has announced that the agency has engaged, trained and deployed 11,788 beneficiaries under its Community Police Assistant module to support the Ghana Police Service and enhance public safety.
The initiative is part of the YEA’s broader mandate to create employment opportunities for young people while equipping them with practical skills and experience in community service and security.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, Mr Basintale said beneficiaries of the programme had undergone professional training and orientation in line with the principles and operational requirements of the Ghana Police Service.
He explained that the programme provides young people with valuable exposure to the security sector, enabling them to develop relevant skills, contribute to community safety and explore opportunities for long-term careers in law enforcement and related fields.
According to him, the Community Police Assistant module operates under the YEA’s Youth in Community Service and Security Module, which was established to provide human resource support to the Ghana Police Service while creating opportunities for young people to gain experience in the sector.

“The Community Police Assistant module is a project under the Youth Employment Agency, under our module termed as Youth in Community Service and Security Module, developed to provide human resource support for the Ghana Police Service, as well as provide the opportunity for the youth to experience the service and explore the possibilities of pursuing a career in the field while contributing to public safety,” he said.
Mr Basintale further noted that beneficiaries receive professional training and orientation from the Ghana Police Service and are provided with the necessary logistics, skills and expertise to support the country’s security operations.
He said the agency’s efforts were aimed at ensuring that participants were adequately prepared to carry out their assigned responsibilities while contributing to the broader national security framework.
Providing an update on the programme’s progress, the YEA CEO disclosed that, as of September 2026, a total of 11,788 beneficiaries had been engaged, trained and deployed under the Community Police Assistant module.
The programme is expected to continue serving the dual purpose of creating employment opportunities for young people and providing additional human resource support to the Ghana Police Service in its efforts to maintain public safety.
