YEA, Ghana Digital Centre Partner to Train 2,000 Youth in ICT

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has partnered with the Ghana Digital Centre to provide information and communication technology (ICT) training for 2,000 young people to improve their employability and expand opportunities in the digital economy.

The collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), will provide beneficiaries with access to various IT-related training programmes and capacity-building initiatives designed to equip them with skills relevant to the technology industry.

The Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Malik Basintale, announced the partnership during the agency’s Accountability Series on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

He explained that the initiative forms part of the agency’s Youth in ICT model, which aims to diversify employment opportunities for young Ghanaians by improving access to digital skills training.

“Our Youth in ICT model represents the agency’s intended intervention in information and communication technology, an area of growing relevance to employment and economic participation. It remains part of our commitment to diversify the pathways to Ghanaian youth,” he said.

Mr Basintale expressed optimism that the agency would meet its target of enrolling all 2,000 beneficiaries by the end of November 2026.

“I’m happy to report that the YEA has successfully signed an MoU with the Ghana Digital Centre to enrol 2,000 beneficiaries into various IT-related programmes and capacity-building initiatives, and we are hopeful that by the end of November this target will be achieved,” he stated.

The partnership is expected to strengthen efforts to equip young people with digital competencies and broaden their prospects for employment in Ghana’s growing technology sector.
