Government to Present 2027 Budget on November 12, Prioritise Productivity and Job Creation

The government will present the 2027 Budget to Parliament on November 12, with a focus on transitioning Ghana’s economy from stabilisation to a more productive, competitive and technology-driven path.

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem said the budget would advance the next phase of the government’s economic agenda, with emphasis on translating macroeconomic stability into job creation, higher incomes and improved living standards.

Speaking at the launch of Ghana in Numbers 2025 in Accra, Mr Ampem stressed that economic stability must serve as a foundation for sustainable growth and broader prosperity.

“Stability is the foundation. Productivity is the engine. Jobs and prosperity must be the destination,” he said.

He noted that Ghana’s economy expanded by six per cent in 2025 and 6.2 per cent in the first half of 2026, while inflation declined from 23.8 per cent in December 2024 to 5.2 per cent in September 2026.

According to him, the government’s next priority is to implement policies that promote value addition to local resources, strengthen businesses and expand economic opportunities, particularly for young people.

Mr Ampem emphasised the need for Ghana to move beyond exporting raw materials and build its capacity to produce goods and services with greater value.

“We must move from exporting raw materials to exporting value and from producing job seekers to nurturing innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators,” he said.

The 2027 Budget is expected to outline the government’s priorities for the next phase of its economic programme, focusing on boosting productivity, improving competitiveness and ensuring that the gains from economic stability translate into employment opportunities and better living standards for Ghanaians.
