EOCO Requests Audited Accounts and Tax Records from Baffour Awuah’s Law Firm

EOCO demands 9 years of financial, tax records from Baffour Awuah's law firm

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has requested financial and operational documents from Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, a law firm where Manhyia North Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, serves as a senior partner.

The request forms part of ongoing investigations into allegations of criminal conspiracy, causing financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences, among other suspected violations.

In a letter dated Friday, October 30, 2026, EOCO invoked Section 19 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), to demand documents and information from the firm to assist its investigations.

The Office has directed the law firm to provide its audited financial statements covering the period from 2017 to 2025, together with evidence of tax payments made to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

The requested tax records include payments relating to corporate tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), levies and withholding tax.

EOCO has also requested details of all bank accounts operated by the firm, as well as the corresponding bank statements covering the nine-year period under investigation.

Additionally, the firm is expected to submit copies of its operating permit issued by the relevant local assembly and evidence of its renewal.

The Office has further requested a list of employees working at the firm, if any.

EOCO has given Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners until November 6, 2026, to submit all the requested documents and information.
